Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes recipe - quick and easy!

Using the same ingredients found on the All-American cheeseburger, these saucy Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes are bursting with that classic taste you crave. Your family will be raving about this quick and easy meal that can be prepared in minutes!

You know you hit on a good recipe when you don't tell your kids what they are eating and after one bite they scream, "THIS TASTES LIKE CHEESEBURGERS!" Mission Accomplished. Seriously, these do taste just like cheeseburgers, but they are much simpler to make. These Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes make a perfect quick and easy dinner, or the idea party food to serve a crowd.

    Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes recipe

This recipe is my most recent brainchild after seeing the success of my Cheeseburger Meatloaf recipe, which this is largely based off. Don't worry though, if you are a purist who craves the real thing, I have some great write-ups on how to make ridiculous homemade burger patties, or replicate a great fast food burger!

How to Make Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes

To truly replicate the flavor of a great cheeseburger, you need to use the same ingredients. Therefore this recipe incorporates chopped onions and pickles with the beef while ketchup and mustard form the base of the sloppy joe sauce. These ingredients easily fit in a 12" skillet.

Equally important is the cheese. A slice of mild cheddar cheese slowly melting into every nook and cranny of the meat is exactly what you want. Don't do anything crazy like try to make these sloppy joes with Velveeta and ignore any sloppy joe recipe that wants you to mix the cheese in with the meat. Not only will the cheese break apart when leftovers are reheated, but you lose that stretchy cheesy goodness that is so satisfying with each bite.

How Do You Make Sloppy Joes

When you are craving classic sloppy joes, you don't need a sloppy joe mix, nor do you need to make sloppy joes from a can. Sloppy Joes can easily be made from scratch. Simply check out my Homemade Sloppy Joes recipe, it is better than Manwich! Otherwise, for more creative fare, check out these sloppy Joes:

Loved your philly cheese steak sloppy joes so I made this today- about four hours after I saw the recipe- and it's delicious. Substituted 1 pound venison for one pound beef but made the rest according to the recipe. Thanks for making recipes with easily accessible, often on-hand ingredients.
