Oh no, you out of Italian seasoning! Don't worry, you can make your own homemade Italian seasoning out of dried spices in your pantry right now!
What is in Italian Seasoning
Italian seasoning is a versitle seasoning blend of spices that contain oregeno, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, parsely, and basil. However, blends can vary in the exact spices used. This is also what makes crafting your own homemade blend so wonderful - you can add your favorite spices or omit the ones you dislike.
How to make it
Assemble your dried herbs and a small dish. Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and ½ teaspoon of thyme, marjoram, rosemary, parsley, and basil. Mix to combine, and voila! You are done! You can scale this recipe up or down as needed too.
Tip: Rosemary needles are considerably longer than the flake size of the other spices. For this reason, I recommend lightly crushing it prior to adding it to the mix.
How to store seasoning
For best flavor and shelf life, store your homemade seasonings in an air-tight container out of direct light. Purchasing spice containers is fairly inexpensive if needed.
