This easy honey mustard recipe only requires 4 ingredients, which you likely already have on hand, and is ready in less than 5 minutes!
My wife and I never buy honey mustard. However, we use it frequently in our house. Since it is so simple to make we just quickly whip up a small batch whenever we need it. This recipe is so easy you will quickly be crafting batches just by eyeballing the ingredients.
Easy Honey Mustard
To qualify as ‘easy’ honey mustard, the recipe must be quick and easy to prepare and use limited ingredients, yet still taste great. A good honey mustard is wonderfully creamy, still tastes like mustard, and has a noticeable sweetness from honey. My recipe focuses on balancing those flavors in fairly easy to replicate ratios.
Honey Mustard Ingredients
Together Dijon and yellow mustard form the backbone of this sauce, providing the trademark mustard flavor. Mayo is blended in to give the sauce it’s distinctive creaminess, and finally honey is added for sweetness.
What changes can I make to this recipe?
You can change everything! Want more mustard flavor? Add a bigger ratio of mustard, or cut back on the mayo. Want it to be sweeter? Add more honey.
You can even add additional ingredients to this recipe. If you like a brighter tasting honey mustard, add a few dribbles of lemon juice. You can even sprinkle in a dash of cayenne for a little heat to balance out the sweetness.
Can I make this in advance?
Not only can you make this recipe in advance, the flavors will continue to meld when stored in the refrigerator overnight. Make sure to store it in an air-tight container or condiment bottle to prevent odors in the refrigerator from influencing the flavor.
What can I use Honey Mustard for?
This is great as a dip with fresh vegetables, or pretzels. It can also be used as a condiment in any of these recipes:
