    Classic Margarita Recipe

The Classic Margarita only requires a few simple ingredients to make the most refreshing cocktail known to man! Enjoy the pure taste of this classic, the way it was meant to be!

Move over hooty-fruity slushy for adults, we are talking about real-deal margaritas today. We are reclaiming the Mexican classic by enjoying it with a handful of high-quality ingredients, rather than the syrup, sugar, and shaved ice monstrosities that have been created to hide the bad booze swimming inside.

    Classic Margarita Recipe

This is the way a true margarita tastes, and I bet you've never had one!

    Margarita Ingredients

First the good news, you don't need any expensive cocktail mixes or syrups to enjoy the classic margarita. It is simply a balancing act of high-quality tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice. Clean and simple.

    What Tequila for Margaritas?

Since there aren't many ingredients used, it is important to buy a good quality tequila, rather than what you find on the bottom shelf. Better tequilas have a cleaner, less astringent, taste. This is important because tequila is the main ingredient in a classic margarita. Still, you don't have to spend a lot of money on the tequila, I typically stay in the sub-$20 price range.

Typically the most recommended tequila for margaritas is a blanco or reposado. Blancos have a cleaner taste that allows the agave flavor to shine through, while reposado have been briefly aged in oak barrels for a bit more complexity. Both are great choices, but I personally enjoy blanco best.

    Blanco Tequila Margarita

As mentioned, for a true classic margarita, you simply need to use tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. In my margarita recipe, I provide you with the ratios that I think tastes best, but it is largely up to personal preference. For example, if you like a sweeter margarita feel free to add more triple sec.

    How to Make a Margarita?

Making a classic margarita is best with a cocktail shaker. This easily mixes all of the ingredients while also chilling it with ice at the same time. Though you can certainly serve this over ice instead, shaking it with ice allows you to enjoy the crisp cocktail without the ice diluting the flavor over time.
