I can’t wait till this weekend. Not only because it is, well, the weekend, but rather it is Easter weekend! Most weekends are spent prepping posts for this website, or playing with recipes. Not this weekend, this weekend is all about family time, good food, and sweet treats!
This past Saturday was my daughter’s first birthday and I had the whole family over to celebrate with an impromptu party. Can you believe it has been one year already??? We ate Mississippi Roast Sandwiches and no shortage of snacks, but it was my daughter and the cat who got all the cake! Though I am not quite sure if any actually made it in her mouth! This weekend I am looking forward to doing it all again with my family, except this time it will be at my sister’s house, which means she gets to clean up the aftermath!
I need to start thinking about a dish to pass. I had fantasies of doing a pig roast, but I don’t have a commercial sized grill so I pivoted to a more manageable suckling pig, but my wife quickly informed me that’s mean. When I offered she could first name him Mr. Wiggles, it didn’t help my bolster my cause. Luckily for her, I don’t have a suckling pig, and though I’m in the market for a smoker, I don’t yet have one either. So Mr. Wiggles is safe, for now.
Regardless what I decide to cook for Easter, I will be bringing plenty of the M&M's® Easter Tri Packs I picked up from Walmart this week! These pre-packaged treats are not only fun to snack on; they are the perfect size to fit inside of plastic Easter eggs. You know what that means? Egg hunt!
There is an assortment of up to five different pastel colors of M&M's® in each pack, which makes me think they would be perfect for an M&M's® egg scavenger hunt! Being the competitive guy that I am, a simple egg hunt isn’t exciting enough for me. I would rather add an extra layer of competition!
My idea is to select one color of M&M's® to be worth points, my favorite color is blue, so that is what I’d select. Whoever finds the most blue M&M's® hidden in the eggs, wins a prize!
Regardless of how you conduct your egg hunt, I do have a few tips for you.
- Keep track of where you hide the plastic eggs! You don’t want the dog to find it months later!
- Make sure to set the boundaries of the hunt so no one is going any place they shouldn’t be.
- If you enjoy clever hints, add little bunny tracks near each egg. This can be done simply with construction paper, or sprinkle talcum powder inside the cut out shape of the tracks.
- Finally, be sure to reserve plenty of M&M's® Easter Tri Packs for yourself while everyone is hunting!
Regardless if you do a competitive egg hunt, just remember the main focus should be having fun and building memories with your family! Though, gathering around my M&M’s® Layered Cheesecake certainly doesn't hurt any either!
If all else fails, just put bunny ears on a puppy.
Happy Easter everyone!

It is unbelievable how quickly the year goes, isn't it? I really try to make it a point to savor my moments with her because I know one day I will blink and she will be all grown up!

Those bunny ears are too little already! The puppy is totally adorable! The baby's not bad either! Enjoy all.
