Dr Pepper® has been my favorite soda for as long as I can remember, so much so that my mother even keeps it stocked in her fridge specifically for when I come to visit. She'll claim she is just being nice, but I'm reasonably certain it is just an easy way for her to ensure her favorite middle child comes to visit her! She probably doesn't need to entice me with soda, but I appreciate the bribe.
I don't just love to drink Dr Pepper®, cooking with it is a fun way to infuse my favorite dishes with my favorite soda flavors. Reducing it down in a saucepan is ideal for concentrating its flavors into a sticky glaze fortified with other seasonings. It is perfect for summer grilling, or for indoor entertaining!
I stocked up on Dr Pepper®, as well as M&M's® Plain and M&M's® Peanut on my last trip to Walmart, but how would you like to get these goodies and a whole lot more with a $100 Walmart gift card?! I like that my local Walmart carries the Dr Pepper® Cherry flavor that is quickly becoming my favorite Dr Pepper®, but it also carries other varieties like the Vanilla Float, which I just tried for the first time!
When using using Dr Pepper® to create a glaze for a pork loin chop it is important to add complimentary flavors to balance out of the sweetness. The acid in cider vinegar really helps to cut down the sweetness while molasses adds a deep robust flavor.
While baking the pork loin chops you can set it directly on a baking sheet, or set them up on a wire baking rack like I did. It will give you the nice looking cross marks in the meat, as you can see in the photo. Otherwise, it is also a great idea to reserve some of the glaze and continue to lacquer the meat as it roasts, for additional sticky goodness!

Tasted great but any tips for making the glaze reduce quicker?
Ibrahim
Do you think it could be applied to a ham for, say, Thanksgiving?
Fox Valley Foodie
Though I have not tested it, yes I think this would taste excellent on ham!
