I’m going to forgo inserting any required government images of baby kittens dying from second hand smoke, or require that you be ‘this tall’ to ride this blog post. Instead I’ll just assume that at some point in your life someone may have casually mentioned to you that Phillip Morris isn’t exactly making Flintstone vitamins.

Now I’m not a doctor, so I’m not going to make any health claims about casual tobacco use, but if I were a doctor I would tell you having a couple of cigars a year won’t kill you. As a matter of fact, you may actually enjoy one. Cigars aren’t inhaled like cigarettes, instead the intent is to savor the flavor on your palate.

If you decide you do want to relax with a cigar, there is no better place to do it than Appleton Souvenir & Cigar Co downtown College Avenue. This place is special because despite the smoking ban you can still smoke cigars in this establishment.

Appleton Souvenir & Cigar Co – Fox Valley’s Political Incorrect OasisThe other week I was walking my English Bulldog, Basil, downtown Appleton and decided this exceptionally nice day was the perfect time for my annual cigar indulgence. Plus, is there any more classic combo than a bulldog and a cigar? (A lady even stopped us on the sidewalk to take our picture)

Walk-in HumidorIf you are not a cigar aficionado, a 28’ walk in humidor with over 700 different offerings can be very intimidating. Luckily for people like me who are not cigar experts, they have a very knowledgeable staff that has been exceedingly helpful assisting me with my cigar selection. I just mentioned the type of cigar I was looking for and the gentleman was quick with recommendations. (They didn’t even yell at me for bringing my dog in while I made my purchase)

My CigarIf you don’t know what type of cigar you would like, or you are new to cigar smoking, you have even more reasons to stop at Appleton Souvenir & Cigar Co. Rather than wasting money through trial and error trying to see if you can find something you’ll enjoy, you can instead get direction from someone who is passionate about cigars.

Since it was such a nice day I just took my cigar and continued with my walk. However, they do boast the Club Habana Cigar Lounge with plenty of comfortable seating in large leather furniture. They even have a fully stocked bar if you wish to sip a cocktail with your cigar.

Stepping into Appleton Souvenir & Cigar Co is like stepping back in time to a smoky world free of political correctness. You don’t have to consider yourself a tobacco user to enjoy a cigar. You just need to be unpretentious and enjoy all things in moderation.
