Equipment

  • Propane grill
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 1 sesame seed hamburger bun
  • ¼ pound 80/20 ground beef
  • salt and black pepper
  • 3-4 slices dill pickle
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2-3 slices white onion
  • 1-2 slices tomato
  • 2 tablespoons chopped iceberg lettuce
  • 1 tablespoon mayo

Instructions

  • Form the ground hamburger into a round ball, set on parchment paper, and firmly press it flat with a plate or another flat object. Ensure the pressed patty is wider than your buns. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  • Set your propane grill on high heat. Place the burger patty on the grill and sear on both sides until the interior is no longer pink.
  • Toast the insides of the hamburger buns briefly, until they begin to turn golden brown, while the burgers cook.
  • Place the cooked burger on the bottom bun, then top the patty with pickles, ketchup, onion slices, tomato slices, and lettuce. Generously add mayonnaise to the inside of the upper bun, and place it on the burger.

Notes

I recommend forming your burgers on parchment paper to make it easier to transfer them to the grill and to prevent them from sticking.
Optional: Wrap the finished burger in parchment paper for a couple of minutes prior to serving to warm and soften the bun, similar to the effect of a fast-food wrapper.
