Course: Entree
Cuisine: Asian
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 lb boneless pork roast pork belly, or pork butt
  • ¾ large onion
  • Cooking oil
  • 1 Green onion chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • White Rice for serving

Marinade

  • 1 red apple or pear cored
  • ¼ onion chopped & sauteed
  • 4 tablespoon chili paste
  • 4 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon chilli flakes
  • 2 tablespoon rice wine or sake
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • Fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Add all marinade ingredients to a blender and puree until smooth.
  • Slice pork thinly (~⅛") and cut into chunks.
  • Place pork in gallon zip lock bag and add marinade. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.
  • Slice onion into strips and add to heated pan on medium heat with marinated pork.
  • Toss occasionally to ensure even cooking. Pork is done when cooked through.
  • Serve with rice, topped with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

I cooked 1 cup of white rice to serve with this.
If you really want to up the authenticity factor, grill the meat rather than cooking it on the stove.
