- 9 inch pie crust baked
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 egg yolks
- 4 cups milk
- 3 tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Mix together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch and salt in a medium sauce pan.
Stir in egg yolks and milk and mix well to combine. Then set the saucepan over medium heat and simmer for seven minutes while stirring, or until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency.
Pour the chocolate pie filling into a baked pie crust and set in the refrigerator to cool for four hours.
Slice and serve.
Tip: Serve this pie topped with whipped cream or ice cream!
This can also be added to a graham cracker crust, rather than a traditional pie crust.
