Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Baking dish

Ingredients

  • 12 sweet dinner rolls *
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
  • 1 ½ pounds beef sirloin (thinly sliced)**
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 green pepper
  • ½ sweet onion
  • 6 slices Provolone cheese

Sauce

Instructions

Fillings

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Add one tablespoon of oil in a large skillet set over medium-high heat.
  • Add steak to the skillet along with worcestershire sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, and a generous pinch of salt. Cook until the beef is seared and no longer pink. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Lower heat to medium and add another tablespoon of oil. Saute peppers and onions until they are tender-crisp, then remove from the pan.

Sauce

  • Add melted butter, Worcestershire sauce and onion powder to a dish and mix to combine.

Assembly

  • Place the bottom half of dinner rolls in a small baking dish and top evenly with sliced beef, then green peppers and onions. Top with Provolone cheese slices and add the upper half of the dinner rolls.
  • Paint the dinner rolls with the butter mixture then cover everything with foil.
  • Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Remove from teh oven and serve.

Notes

*Hawaiian sweet rolls are great options, or use brioche dinner rolls instead.
**I recommend using thinly sliced ribeye, top round, or sirloin.
The best way to thinly slice steak for your cheesesteak sliders is to partially freeze it first. This is important because it firms up the meat which makes it significantly easier to slice with a sharp knife.
