How to Make Homemade Hot Chocolate

Once you learn how to make homemade hot chocolate, you will never buy the powdery mix again. Homemade hot chocolate is thicker, creamier, and far more luxurious than anything you've ever tasted!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, divided
  • 2 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 1 egg yolk
  • marshmallows
  • Optional: Brandy

Instructions

  • Heat ¼ cup of the milk and chocolate on low in a sauce pan and whisk to thoroughly combine.
  • In separate pan heated on low whisk the egg yolk until smooth and heated, being careful not to curdle.
  • Slowly add chocolate mixture by the spoonful into the yolk while whisking continually. Add the remaining milk and heat to temperature.
  • Add brandy to a mug, if desired, and add hot chocolate. Top with marshmallows.
  • Scale this recipe as needed to yield more servings.
