National Cheese Curd Day is coming up on October 15th. Get ready to celebrate!
Somewhere between Christmas and my birthday lies one of my favorite holidays. Well, to be honest, that is a pretty wide range. I love Christmas, but I don’t particularly care for my birthday, as I’ve never woken up any younger when it rolls around. On the other hand, the only way I found I can prevent dying young is to have more birthdays, so I guess it is a paradox. Either way, I’d rather just celebrate National Cheese Curd Day instead!
First of all, deep fried cheese curds are way better than birthday cake anyhow. Heck, I think most things are better than birthday cakes which is why I instead blow candles out of my smoked salmon. Be honest, you are slightly jealous you didn’t think of that.
Living in Wisconsin, I am slightly obsessed with deep fried cheese curds. Enjoying them is a way of life up here, to the extent my wife and I often decide where we are going out to eat based on who serves up the best cheese curds. For this reason, when we are looking for fast food we often find ourselves at Culver’s, another Wisconsin classic.
Quite honestly, I don't think you can live in Wisconsin and not like cheese curds and Culver's. Otherwise, we send you to Illinois.
For those of you who aren’t from Wisconsin and may not be familiar with this delectable treat, deep fried cheese curds are bite-sized chunks of exceptionally fresh cheddar cheese that are then breaded and fried till golden and delicious. Heck, I've even published my own recipe for deep fried cheese curds!
If you haven't tried cheese curds in your life, clear your calendar on October 15th and head to Culvers to get your National Cheese Curds Day on! It's like Christmas except you get to unwrap gooey bites of melted cheese, instead of socks that you will never wear. Plus, if you find a heart-shaped cheese curd you get like seven years of good luck or something. Hey, it's a thing, just ask science...
No Christmas analogy would be complete without presents, and today I am the cheese curd Santa Claus (I assume the cheese curd Santa gets a sleigh with 8 flying dairy cows, right?). Leave me a message in the comments below explaining why you need more cheese curds in your life, OR give me your best sob story about how you've never tried them, and I will randomly select four readers to receive a FREE regular sized bag of curds from your local Culver's! Oh, and I promise not to break into your house through your chimney to deliver them... that's just wrong.
So what are you waiting for? Start getting ready for National Cheese Curd Day at Culver's October 15th. It's the most wonderful time of the year!
At which Culver’s location are you going to celebrate National Cheese Curd Day?

If you enjoyed reading about National Cheese Curd Day then you should probably like me on Facebook and follow me on Pinterest too. That’s what I would do at least, because if you don’t get to know me but you still take my advice it is kind of like taking candy from a stranger, and your mom taught you not to do that. If you are ever up for a road trip, make a journey to New Glarus and the Glarner Stube. After very scientific study, my family decided they have the very best cheese curds. Local curds battered in New Glarus Brewery beer. Amazing! I enjoy Culver's too, but for the very best I have to make the journey.

Being born and raised in the very deep south I know about fried. From chicken to Twinkies and everything in between, we fry it. The image of cheese CURDS was well, gross. (Think fried cottage cheese).
After reading your recipe I totally get it, it isn't actually curds, it's more like chunks. Fried cheese chunks sound yummy and I'll be trying them later when I make fried green tomatoes.

Even he anticipation of receiving the bag of cheese curds starts to make my heart beat with excitement. it's a food no other food as you bite into the crispy outer shell. I always go for the ones I can bite in half and stretch the cheese. Cheese curds are amazing no matter how you have them - squeaky fresh, room temp or deep fried like Culver's!
Sadly, I've yet to find fresh cheese curds in FL and the nearest Culver's is close to 45 minutes away. It requires an intentional trip (generally involving a trip to the beach for its!) The trip this weekend is up in the air. Should we... go to the beach and Culver's in the Tampa or Sarasota area or... an event in Orlando with a bonus stop at Culver's while we're in the area. Either way, it's a win!
Thanks for another great post. I guess I'll sleep well now with visions of cheese curds dancing through my head with the promise their special day will soon be here!

Oh my god so I was born and raised in MN and Culver's cheese curds are one of my absolute favorite things in the world (ask my husband about the time I cried when they got my order wrong and gave me fries instead of cheese curds...) anyway I live in New Hampshire now not only are there no Culver's in sight but most New Englanders don't even know what a cheese curd is!! I literally dream about Culver's cheese curds and it's a must that I get them every trip back to the Midwest.... And that is probably the biggest fan girl rant I've ever had 🙂

I can remember taking cheese curds with me to a class in Minneapolis as a snack. There were people from all over the US and they had never eaten them. Thank goodness I had brought a 2 lb bag with me to share. There were a few converts that day. On a side note, Cheese curds are the best and the Culvers cheese curds are made in a factory not too far from my house! Enjoy your curds!
