Recently I was invited to take a preview tour of the Appleton Beer Factory, an offer which I eagerly accepted. I was greeted at the door by two beautiful women, Ben Fogle’s wife Mairi, and her friend who was flown in from Montana special for the occasion just to ensure my goodwill through the flattery of a pretty girl. She claimed she was just in town for a wedding, but I like my version of the story better. Regardless, the free beer they promptly put in my hand was all the salesmanship that was needed.
The Appleton Beer Factory staying focused
I got the opportunity to meet some of the Fogles and discuss their plans for the beer and food. They currently are not planning to install any deep fryers in the restaurant, so don’t look for beer battered French fries. Instead they will focus on providing a variety of fresh in-season meal options. A selection of artisan pizzas is one menu option they are particularly excited about. And though they certainly would like it to be, the restaurant may not be ready for the grand opening.
Although most of the building is currently decorated by exposed cinder blocks, I really like the design they are constructing. The building will be very transparent, allowing patrons to easily see into the brewing areas.
Throughout the tour I was snapping pictures, some of which I posted below to give you a peak as well. You can also read my original writeup on the Appleton Beer Factory here.
